We live in an amazing time of scientific discovery and technological advancement that would have seemed impossible only a few decades ago. Yet, with all of our progress, the human race has devolved when it comes to having difficult conversations. And this is perhaps no more apparent than when we talk about politics or religion.

My guest today is Corey Nathan. He is the host of the podcast Talkin' Politics & Religion Without Killin' Each Other. On his show, Corey frequently delves into themes around having conversations about such topics as politics within the church body and with our non-Christian friends while still exhibiting the Fruits of the Spirit.

Corey was raised in an observant Jewish household attending an Orthodox synagogue. His family is mostly from Brooklyn, New York, but Corey grew up in Jersey. In his late 20s, much to the family's chagrin, Corey became a born-again Christian. Not long after this epiphany, he began to find many of the default social and political positions of contemporary American Evangelicalism to be at odds with the very Scriptures that are supposed to be Christians' authority for how to engage in the world.

In this episode, Corey shares his experience growing up in a Jewish household and how he navigated difficult conversations with his family when he became a born-again Christian. He also shares insight from his ongoing theological studies and training and discusses how we as Christians can and should approach difficult conversations.
