If you follow The Inspired Legacy on Instagram, there's a chance you've seen me express my frustration about the current state of our nation's politics. And if you're friends with me on Facebook (my personal account), you know that I have not shied away from voicing my frustrations there, either.

Admittedly, I have not demonstrated the kind of discernment that many of you may expect from someone who preaches spiritual and personal leadership. It's a personal failure that I am making public to hold myself accountable for making a change.

The fact is, I love my country. However, too often, within the last several months (probably longer), I have allowed my patriotism to supersede God's place in my heart. I let love of country become an idol in my life, and it has distracted me from my walk with God and my relationship with Christ.

In this episode, I talk with my son-in-law, Jacob Green, about this struggle. Together, we unpack the potential pitfalls for men if this behavior goes unchecked and provide some ideas on how to manage it in the future.

This is a conversation I needed to have and will likely continue to have on this show in the future. If any of these thoughts or feelings resonate with you, then I hope you take something away from this as well. And I would love to hear your thoughts on how you avoid the pitfalls of getting distracted by politics. Join our private Facebook Group and contribute to the conversation!
